Short History of Kabong
Kabong sub-district is under the administration of Saratok District, Betong Division, Sarawak. Kabong town has a strategic location and has the prospect of becoming a commercial centre that serves as a distribution centre to the surrounding areas, as the town is located in Muara Batang Krian and can be a major stopover port.
The area of Kabong Sub-District is 398.14 square kilometers. The distance from Saratok is 63 km while from Sarikei 85 km. The area can be reached by land. The main transportation of the surrounding residents is by bus, private van or private car. Kabong Sub-District also has a longhouse Iban of 26 and 27 Malay villages. The population was 13,494 in 2004, of which 80% were Malays and 17% Ibans.
In terms of tourism, Kabong has a long and clean beach suitable for picnics, recreational, festivals and recreational activities which is Tanjung Kembang Beach, making Kabong suitable and potentially large in tourism.
